About
I am interested in how light defines objects. As light in varying intensities plays over the surface, subtle changes in color and shape are revealed. I find reflections particularly fascinating and love discovering surprising features at the intersections of light, shadow and reflection.
I hope to leave an obvious trail of my brush across the surface of the canvas. I like to see how the painter applies the paint and enjoy the poetry of the brushwork.
I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and Wichita, Kansas. I earned a BFA from Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas. I taught art in public schools, then worked in batik. After a second life as a librarian, I returned to art and the challenge of painting. I live in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area of Minnesota.
